Ear Limit

Support

Practical checks for Apple Health audio exposure records, permissions, and purchases on iPhone (iOS 17+).

No headphone numbers are showing up

Check three things in order: 1. Open Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Ear Limit on your iPhone and make sure all requested audio exposure read switches are enabled. 2. Listen to audio through headphones connected to your iPhone for several minutes; iOS writes headphone exposure samples in batches rather than instantaneously. 3. Open the Apple Health app › Browse › Hearing › Headphone Audio Levels to see whether iOS itself has recorded samples yet. Note: Apple Health privacy rules prevent any app from distinguishing between denied read permission and an empty Health database.

Why recent listening or quiet periods look delayed or blank

iOS batches audio exposure samples before committing them to HealthKit, so a session that just ended may take a few minutes to appear. Intervals when no audio was playing—or when you wore headphones silently—are not logged as 0 dB samples; Health simply has no sample for that span.

Restoring Ear Limit Pro on a new iPhone

Ear Limit Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase, then tap “Restore” on the Ear Limit Pro sheet or inside Settings.

Room sound meter questions

The room meter runs while you are viewing the foreground room meter tab (first selection requests microphone permission and starts; Stop pauses for the current tab visit without auto-resuming on unlock, selecting the tab again after leaving starts a new measurement, and leaving or backgrounding suspends capture). If it cannot start, open iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone and allow access for Ear Limit. You can adjust the manual dB calibration offset inside the meter view if you are comparing against a reference meter.
